„Der Paul war der Dolmetscher bei einem Choraustaustasch zwischen den St. Nicholas Singers aus Northwich, UK und unserem Kinderchor, den „Kolibris“, hier in Koblenz, Deutschland. Ohne ihn hätten wir es nicht geschafft! Er war fleiβig, sympathisch und sehr effektiv.“

Flood-y Hell!
Mittwoch, den 27. Januar 2010 um 00:00 Uhr

altWell, I’m sure everybody’s sick of all the flooding, rain damage and dampness of the last month here in Andalucía. Now, I’ve just had a call from the UK to tell me that my house there has been... yes ... flooded!

So it’s off back to the North West of Eng-er-land tomorrow to assess the damage, meet the insurance assessors and try and get it dried out and fixed as soon as possible!  It’s looking grim: new ceiling, new flooring, new internal door, new wallpaper, possibly new carpets and new electrics, not to mention stored belongings in the cellar, which is apparently a metre deep in water!
This is not flooding caused by a river overflowing or heavy rainfall, however.  It seems I had a burst pipe, presumably caused by the worst snow and ice and the lowest temperatures in the UK since 1963!
But, hey, nobody died and it can all be fixed!  A tiny mishap, after all, compared to the tragedy of Haiti...
