„Wir waren Anfang April für 5 Tage in CASARITA und haben uns sehr gut erholt! Wir waren schön wandern und spazieren und haben die Frühlingssonne genossen.  Die Zimmer sind gemütlich und Madita hat in dem Babybett sehr gut geschlafen."

Getting your UK-registered car MOT’d in Spain

I wrote a couple of weeks ago about what to do if the MOT on your UK car runs out while you've got it here in Spain. After extensive research and much mis-information, I advised that you CANNOT get a Gibraltar MOT on a UK-registered car, but you CAN get a Spanish ITV (Inspección Técnica de Vehículos).

And today, I proved it!

I turned up at the appointed time for my ITV voluntaria, not wholly convinced that I would be successful.

As I drove through the testing station responding to the barked instructions of the perito, or technician, everything seemed to be going well. Then suddenly there was a nervous moment when he queried my stuck-on headlight deflectors with his supervisor, but the boss said they were OK, and a short while later I was given my Spanish “MOT” certificate, valid for two years, and my vehicle was legal again ...

... and it only cost me 40 euros!
