"We have had a fantastic time here in Ronda.  It is the most beautiful place we have visited.  Our stay has been even more enjoyable due to this lovely apartment, Piso Blanco, which is extremely comfortable and has everything you would need and more.  Thank you for the information you have provided and the amenities.  It’s brilliant!"

Blonde ambition

Nothing to do with Spain, but I was intrigued to come across this piece of news about Lithuania, one of our newer EU member states.

A Lithuanian travel agency has sparked controversy by announcing plans to open a holiday resort staffed entirely by young blonde women.

The resort, to be built in the Maldives and named Island of Blondes, is the brainchild of the girls at Olialia (pronounced ‘ooh-la-la’), a company staffed exclusively by fair-haired ladies, operating in more than 75 different business sectors.

Olialia ’s Managing Director, Giedre Pukiene, claims the company strives to debunk stereotypes of dim-witted blondes. “Our girls are very smart and they have degrees,” she says, adding that flights to the island will be piloted by nubile young blondes.

The development, reported to have Russian, UK and German financial backing, is due to open in 2015.

I can’t imagine too many men complaining about this, but what do brunettes and red-haired women think?
