"We enjoyed being in a small, friendly Spanish community with such easy access to the town.  The apartment is very comfortable.  We made good use of the extensive library and the garden and pool – a lovely way to relax after a hard day’s ‘culture’!"

The A1 Solutions website is one year old! Launched in January 2010, the site incorporated A1 Translations, A1 Holidays and A1 Homefinders,  offering translation and interpreting, selected holiday rentals in Andalucía and a homefinder service, as well as Paul Whitelock's Andalucía Blog.

We are delighted with the website, built by Karl Smallman of provision360, and over the year it’s gone from strength to strength. With a total of 105,624 hits to date, the reach of the site has exceeded our expectations and has brought in a steady stream of work, translating, interpreting, holiday rentals and homefinding, as well as regular readers of the blog.

Although the site is predominantly in English we’ve tried to make it interesting for Spanish- and German-speaking visitors too, with a number of articles in those languages.

Over the year the most read sections were about translations and holidays and the most popular articles were What is a guiri?, Visit an Alpaca Farm by Nigel Cobb and De Tapeo in Montejaque. The piece about Jamie Oliver filming in the area, Jamie does Ronda!, was the fourth most read item.

The top three pieces in Spanish were Wir sprechen Deutsch (versión en español), Migración al revés, about a German who went the other way and emigrated to Montejaque, and Pelea y güisqui: el primer encuentro de Welles y Hemingway, Miguel Ruiz Trigueros' account of the first meeting between Orson Welles and Ernest Hemingway.

The three most popular German articles were Wir sprechen Deutsch (deutsche Version), Stolz wie ein Spanier, on Spain’s sporting success in 2010, and „Wir fühlen uns als Brüder“ about the civic partnership between Montejaque, Benaoján and Knittlingen.

For the last few months we’ve been beta-testing a fourth section, A1 SpanishLife, which provides information, advice and comment on a range of topics.  This is now fully up and running and you are invited to have a look at http://www.a1-solutions-spain.com/content/en/a1-spanish-life.html.

Check out also my fellow bloggers: Michel Cruz, K J Elsdon, Carolyn Emmett, John Sharrock Taylor and my Hispanist alter ego, Don Pablo.  Links to their websites can also be found at the bottom of the A1 SpanishLife page.

Take a peak at the embryonic Writers' Forum too.  If you like to write, why not join? It's free!

At A1 Solutions we're looking forward to an even more exciting and successful second year. Thanks for your continued support!
