"During his six years working for St Helens Council Education Department, Paul was, among other things, our in-house "languages expert", doing the translating, interpreting and liaison with our twin towns in Chalon-Sur-Saône, France, Stuttgart, Germany and El Prat de Llobregat, Spain. His participation has enabled us to maintain strong links with all three towns, particularly in the field of education, where he set up and managed a very successful work experience programme for sixth formers"

First night!
Montag, den 07. Februar 2011 um 22:00 Uhr

We spent our first night in our new dream home near Ronda on Saturday, after our beds arrived from England. We got the house last Wednesday, but the furniture didn’t turn up until Saturday morning, so after a hectic and exhausting day unloading, unpacking and sorting out the sleeping arrangements, we were in at last!

As dawn broke on Sunday morning we were greeted by a hard frost – the garden was white and the vehicle windscreens were iced up – but it looked beautiful. The day turned into a hot and sunny one typical of this mountainous part of Andalucía at this time of year. There is still snow on top of the aptly named Sierra de las Nieves, but the forecast is for more sunny weather.

Sunday was spent moving stuff from our previous house in the next valley and more unpacking of the boxes from England. Rita’s two sisters, Birgid and Irmhild, arrived on Sunday night for two weeks to help us settle in - unpacking, cleaning, storing – while stepson Johannes has been helping me schlepp stuff around, as well as taking over the cooking duties.

We’ve met some of our new neighbours, María and Pepe next door and Paco, Monica and Curro down the lane and feel very welcome.

The only downside so far is that Telefónica/Movistar have failed to provide us with a telephone line. Other than that everything is falling nicely into place.
