Why not go along to the Grazalema Tourist Information Centre in Grazalema on Saturday and enjoy the paintings while sampling local chef Nene’s pancakes? These are made with locally stone ground wholemeal flour and come in six flavours. If you can’t make it on Saturday, fear not – the exhibition runs for six weeks, until 21 July. For more information click below: © Paul Whitelock Christine has lived in Spain, in the village of Benaoján, for eight years. She studied at Banbury School of Art and Design, (Oxfordshire, England) then Hornsey College of Art in London, where she specialized in illustration. From the early 1960s onwards, she worked in London's Fleet Street as a freelance illustrator and designer, contributing to many national newspapers and magazines over a period of thirty years. Nowadays, Christine is a painter and this work is as varied as her past occupation as an illustrator. She has no preferred medium. The subject matter may suggest a certain effect or she may decide, purely on a whim to go in a particular direction. She enjoys working in watercolour, pastel or acrylic, discovering each media anew when she returns to it. 'The Dream', had always been to come to southern Spain to paint. Drawn by the shimmering heat, the bold colours and sharp contrasts of light and shade, the sky at times, impossibly blue, perspective seemingly defying all laws, elements that suit her personality and her palette.
