Leserbriefe

"When I bought an apartment in Ronda in 2001 and a house in 2003, Paul was an invaluable help in my dealings with estate agents, lawyers, at the bank and at the notary. It’s too risky to do it all without a competent interpreter. Many do, but I would strongly advise against it."

Getting towed is costly

The cost of parking illegally can be very high here in Spain. If your car gets towed by the municipal grúa it’ll cost you anything up to 120 euros to get it back!

Don’t risk parking illegally. The chances are you won’t get away with it! This British driver probably thought he was OK to park in a delivery zone in the centre of Ronda, as from 2.00 to 5.00 pm it is permitted. But he was just five minutes into the illegal period and the grúa was there hooking up his pride and joy and schlepping it off to the car pound.

That’ll cost him a fine of 66 euros, as the policía local in attendance confirmed to me. A bargain compared to Cádiz city, however, where it’s 120 euros. Nevertheless, it would have been much cheaper in the car park - for 66 euros he could park for a week!
