Just watched Chelsea thrash Wigan Athletic 8-0 to win the Premier League 2010. Although Manchester United also won their last match of the season 4-0 against Stoke City it wasn’t enough to prevent the “Blues” from winning their first major title since the reign of Jose Mourinho. A strike by Nicolas Anelka in the 6th minute got the ball rolling. A dubious penalty, resulting in a red card for the Wigan defender Caldwell, meant the League Leaders were now 2-0 up, after Frank Lampard converted the resulting penalty. By the end of 90 minutes the team now managed by Carlo Ancelotti had increased their dominance to 8-0, with a hat-trick from Didier Drogba, two from Anelka, one each from Lampard, Ashley Cole and Saloman Kalou. Amazing! Evidently, MUFC also played well, beating Stoke City 4-0 with goals from Darren Fletcher, Ryan Giggs, J S Park and an own goal. But, it wasn’t enough! (Yippee .....!) © Paul Whitelock
