The Spanish authorities are cracking down on foreign vehicles being used illegally here. In an effort to regularise the situation and to collect much needed revenue, the tax authorities together with the guardia civil are locating foreign-plated vehicles and if they are illegal - ie over the time limit, unregistered here, have outstanding unpaid taxes, are uninsured and/or un-MOT’d - the police are confiscating the vehicles and giving owners just five days to legalise them.
