"A fantastic holiday in Piso Blanco – the Barrio San Francisco, balcony and pool heightened our enjoyment of Ronda.  Was happiest watching the sunset from this balcony over the mountains."

Día de Andalucía PDF
Tuesday, 28 February 2012 00:00

Today, 28 February, is the Día de Andalucía (Andalusia Day) an official bank holiday in the region. It commemorates the referendum, held on 28 February 1980, on the Statute of Autonomy of Andalusia, in which the Andalusian electorate voted for the statute that made Andalusia an autonomous community of Spain.

In many villages, towns and cities of Andalusia, people decorate their balconies with the flag of Andalusia and with bunting echoing its green-and-white bars. Cultural competitions are often held in conjunction with the day. In some cities, especially in Málaga province, schools are closed for a Semana Cultural (cultural week), also known as Semana Blanca (white week), when various activities are organised.
