A survey by the Guardian has revealed the true extent of the various add-ons charged by low-cost airlines such as EasyJet, Ryanair, FlyBe and Jet2.

Unless you travel with hand luggage only, expect to pay lots extra for your checked-in luggage, sports equipment, etc.

Car hire deals and travel insurance are also more expensive than elsewhere.

And if you cancel or make a change, it will cost you dear!

Hi Paul, I agree with this but one thing worth noting. I flew over a coupld of weeks ago from London to Malage with Easy Jet, this was my first experience of this airline and I have to say I was impressed with their website which was easy to navigate with no surprise extras being bolted on at the end. The other main reason for travelling with them is that there is no limit on the weight of your hand luggage as long as it is the rights dimensions, unlike Monarch who now have a weight limit of 5 kilos per hand luggage which is absolute madness and alost impossible to conform to.

Cheers Fiona
