“Paul did an excellent piece of work in translating my business’s website into German. The service was good value, had a speedy turnaround and at all times Paul’s translation was thoughtful and intelligent, suggesting improvements not only to the German version but also to the original English. Many thanks! I would definitely recommend Paul / A1 Language Services for any translation work.”

Alonso, Alonso, Alonso ... PDF

It was a great weekend for the Alonso “family”. Xabi Alonso, the footballer, and Fernando Alonso, the Formula 1 racing driver, (not related) both hit the sporting headlines on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, Xabi Alonso, the Real Madrid midfielder, won his 100th cap for Spain in the Euro 2012 quarter final football match against France. Not only that, he scored both his team’s goals in their 2-0 victory. The first a sensational header and the second a penalty right at the end of the match.

On Sunday, Fernando Alonso, won the European Grand Prix on home tarmac in Valencia, to take the lead in the drivers’ championship. Not only did he win the race, he did so from 11th on the grid, an amazing achievement on the city circuit, where overtaking is notoriously difficult.

So, well done the Alonsos! Spain, despite its dire economic situation, continues to achieve well in the world of sport.
