Client Testimonials

“Paul did an excellent piece of work in translating my business’s website into German. The service was good value, had a speedy turnaround and at all times Paul’s translation was thoughtful and intelligent, suggesting improvements not only to the German version but also to the original English. Many thanks! I would definitely recommend Paul / A1 Language Services for any translation work.”

Death toll rises
Sábado 15 de Mayo de 2010 00:00

We learned while we were away for a week’s holiday that at least three more cats have apparently been “murdered” in our village, Montejaque.  That brings the total we know about to five in the last three weeks.  That means two more owners, Jill, our good friend, and Barry, a neighbour down the hill, have lost their much loved feline companions.

In the meantime, while our Cleo’s corpse lies in the deep freeze at the vet's, the authorities continue to dither over what to do.  Nobody will accept responsibility for arranging an autopsy to determine the cause of death and, if there are suspicious circumstances, to investigate this crime, for that is what it clearly is. The use of poisons is illegal.  Killing animals is also an offence in law.

The ayuntamiento appears to have washed its hands of the matter; the policía local, who are responsible in urban areas, have done nothing;  Seprona and the environment agency would act, but are not allowed to intervene as they only have jurisdiction in rural areas; and the guardia civil, to whom I made a statement, una denuncia, nearly two weeks ago have apparently done nothing to investigate what they conceded at the time could amount to a crime punishable by a large fine.

Meanwhile the suspected matagatos (cat killer) has returned from her sudden holiday and is swanning around the village as if nothing untoward has happened.  Problem is until we have the evidence from an autopsy, we can’t nail her!
