“Paul ha traducido nuestro folleto sobre el Plan Dinamización Serranía de Ronda al inglés y al alemán. Lo hizo rápido y a un precio aceptable. No dudo en recomendarle.”

Post haste – you must be joking!

What’s going on with the postal service? And I’m not just talking about CorreosRoyal Mail are just as bad! Two express registered letters, one from the UK to Spain and the second in the other direction, both took over a week to arrive!  That’s a 100% failure rate!

My friend in England posted me an important document registered express last month – it took eight days to arrive!  I recently posted some important documents  as una carta certificada y urgente from Spain to the UK on 8 July.  They arrived at their destination in Manchester today, 17 July! Nine days and nearly seven euros.  Normal post only takes two days and costs a mere 60-odd céntimos.

In the latter case I investigated with both Correos and Royal Mail. Their computer tracking is very efficient; pity about their deliveries.  Said letter, posted in Ronda on 8 July, left Madrid for the UK the following day, according to Correos.  According to Royal Mail, the letter arrived in Heathrow Airport International Postal Centre yesterday, 16 July.  So where was the letter for a whole week?  Royal Mail blames Correos and Correos blames Royal Mail.  I shall complain to both organisations, but I don’t suppose I shall get anywhere ...

On Monday a colleague in Manchester has to send a packet of important documents registered and express to Germany.  Do you think they’ll get there in time?  Any suggestions for an alternative safe and fast method?
