After the wedding breakfast, a few of us gathered on the terrace outside our hotel in Talheim for a last drink before bed. After one round, during which we were joined by three locals from the adjoining pub, Mr and Mrs W decided it was time for bed.  But my daughter, her boyfriend and my new bro-in-law stayed on.  We discovered the next morning that, after we’d gone, the landlord, Harry, had got his Willy out!

Before you get the wrong idea, Willy is the local nickname for Poire Williams, a French schnaps made from Williams pears.  It transpires that Harry brought a bottle of the stuff to the table and they’d spent the next couple of hours consuming the contents! That explains the hangovers ...

I'm sure my daughter will for ever remember the night that Harry got his Willy out!
