We’ve been to two abbeys this year. One in South Germany and the other in South Wales.
The German abbey was the Kloster in Maulbronn. We were married there in July. The Welsh one was the ruined Tintern Abbey in Monmouthshire. We visited it last week during a visit to the UK. We’d visited the Maulbronner Kloster many times as Frau W lived in the town for many years before emigrating to Spain and still has many friends there. We decided it would be just the right spot for our Church marriage.
An interesting fact about Tintern Abbey – it was the first Cistercian Monks colony in Wales. © Paul Whitelock Tags: Abbey Road, Kloster, Maulbronn, Tintern Abbey, Maulbronner Kloster, Cistercian Monks, Hermann Hesse, Steppenwolf, Klosterschule, Paul Whitelock, www.a1-solutions-spain.com

An interesting fact about the Kloster – Hermann Hesse, author of Steppenwolf, was expelled from the Klosterschule there.
